Somaliland – Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Part II. Riyaale Snubbe...

March 06, 2009
In a previous article, first of the present series (Somaliland – Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Part I -

http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/93437), I republished a series of snapshots that depict the progress of the irreversible decomposition of Somaliland. In an earlier article entitled "Evacuate Somaliland´s Dictator Riyaale Out of Great Britain" (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/93283), I republished the press release of the Northern Somali Unionist Movement in which the patriotic Somalis of the Northern Somali Diaspora demanded that the United Kingdom does not offer – by way of any contact – any means of indirect recognition of and support to the shameful High Traitor of Somalia, the loathsome tyrant of Hargeisa.

Attentive far more than Jendayi Frazer, the racist, pathetic and ludicrous Assistant Secretary of the Bush administration, the British diplomacy was totally absent when Riyaale, the Hargeisa president of gangsters and traitors, landed in London, along with so many thousands of other tourists.

Teashops staffers, waiters, and airport police were there to remind Riyaale that outside his secluded realm where he survives thanks to Abyssinian logistics he is just a mere tourist – unable to do anything that would oppose the process of Somalia´s reunification and rehabilitation. His days are numbered because in the forthcoming elections, his opponent, and more particularly Kulmiye party´s leader Ahmed Silanyo, is expected to mark a staggering victory, putting an end to Somaliland´s vain and unnecessary existence through a merge with the other parts of Somalia.

I herewith republish an excellent report published by a shrewd Somali commentator, Ahmed Haragwafi, in his very informative and therefore highly recommendable blogspot, Xaqsoor. His pictures, one of which I republish in this article, are valuable documents of the total isolation in which Riyaale, the shameful puppet of the Abyssinian dictator Zenawi, finds himself once he moves outside his provisory territory.

In addition, I republish an alarming warning that the Expatriate Somaliland Community of North America Communiqué issued a few weeks ago, suggesting measures for the organization of fair elections in Northern Somalia. Tyrant Riyaale has no money of his own; his property is entirely made out of robbery of the Northern Somalis´ income. The tyrannized Somalis entrapped in his illegal territory have actually paid – without their free will – for his ridiculous trip. The Hargeisa butcher should rather act wisely and avoid the slightest effort of organizing fake elections. After his defeat, Riyaale could face charges for High Treason and – along with his gang – be condemned and decapitated.

If the teashop president Riyaale wants to count on the customary Somali tolerance and forgiveness, he should accept his defeat beforehand.

Riyaale´s Arrival at London without Protocol

By Ahmed Haragwafi

http://xaqsoor.blogspot.com/2009/03/riyaales-arrival-at-london-without.html

Riyaale arrived London when he traveled from Hargeysa in early morning and undeclared departure. The people in Hargeysa were told his journey after 3 hours from his departure, even his spokesman was not told. Just 3 days ago, his spokesman denied the news of his journey which was told to the Kulmiye foreign affairs representative Dr. Mohamed Omer.

With the same secrecy he arrived at London. The Official representative of Somaliland was not told. Riyale was received at the airport by his deputy Mr. Tukaale who is also his cousin and Junior Clerk Mr. Abdifatah. This time he is hiding from all. He is accompanied by his wife, his only son in Hargeysa and the Foreign Minister whose visits his family in London. Just like last year he is running from the constitutional crisis he created.

That shows how irresponsible he is. When leaders spent their time in solving burning national issues, he runs from it. That was what is told by the Vice President to the cabinet yesterday morning. " He behaves like foreigner. When ever he puts Somaliland house on fire, he disappears. He took everything and ready to stay out if things turn worse. Let us not give that chance." Mr. Ahmed Yasin said.

A picture is worth thousand words. This is the only official photos released from his secret and timid journey. No press release and no reception by the large community of Somalilanders in London. It is the self-appointed carpet-beggars Aar and Abdifatah, plus his cousin Tukaale.

On his arrival at terminal 3 of Heathrow he entered as ordinary passenger. There was no protocol and no one than his Tukaale to welcome.

Expatriate Somaliland Community of North America Communiqué

http://www.somalilandtimes.net/sl/2009/369/21.shtml

Press Release

February 13, 2009

Ever since the rebirth of Somaliland as an independent state in 1991, the Somaliland Diaspora community in North America and elsewhere around the world has taken a keen interest in the affairs of their homeland and has worked hard to continuously provide material as well as moral support for this young fledgling nation in its march towards self determination and the establishment of democratic institutions.

While by law an election should have taken place when president Rayale's term has ended on April 14, 2008 that did not happen as the Administration did not enact in time needed legislation. Nor did it put in place needed financial resources, transportation and human resources that it was obligated by law to implement. And although there was no legal foundation for extending the President's term of office, in order to forestall an instability that was creeping in the country, the opposition parties agreed to extend President Rayale´s term for an additional one year with the provision that the Presidential election to be held on March 29, 2009. 304 days have now elapsed since the President's term of office was extended. Time and again the Administration has dashed the hopes and suppressed the will of the people of Somaliland to exercise their right to hold a free, fair and timely election through the crafting of one delaying tactic after another.

With the help of the international community, a historic voter registration process of the people of Somaliland has been successfully concluded recently and Somaliland voters are now eager to exercise their right to elect a new president by going to the polls on the date that the election is scheduled to take place.

With 42 days remaining from the agreed upon presidential election date, the Administration and its party show no willingness to implement the will of the people to make this highly anticipated election occur on time. The expatriate Somaliland community of North America is, therefore, deeply troubled and dismayed by this apparent lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness on the part of the Government to ensure that these elections be held on schedule.

We strongly urge President Dahir Rayale and his administration and the donor community organizations that are supporting the election to respect the desire and will of the people by taking immediate steps to:

1. Finalize and certify the registration process.

2. Finalize the registration of the candidates of the three parties.

3. Assure the nation that the election will be held as scheduled on March 29, 2009 by issuing a presidential decree as required by the constitution.

4. Ensure that the election once held is free and fair.

We warn the Government and its party that they will be held fully responsible for any dire consequences such as political unrest, instability and God forbid, possible conflict that could arise should the election schedule is pushed back yet again.

Picture: President of Teashops and Cafeterias, the Hargeisa butcher Riyaale enjoys a cup of tea in the airport lounge with some members of gang, as no British official bothered to welcome an unimportant fella like that.
