The Ultimate Solution of the Somali Leadership Crisis

Leaders of the world and of any country particular play crucial role to achieve real happiness of its people. Educated and capable leader leads his/her people and country to a peace and prosperity, while the cruel, erratic and incapable leader brings people to the world of sufferings and ultimately ruins a country. Leader must not only be educated and experienced but it is important to be an intelligent and sensible to the problems faced by his/her people. Leaders of the government should win the trust of people by being strategically friendly avoiding any kind of provocation or war with allies and must also allow a degree of transparency in the day to day working and the governance of the country.

Somalia's president said Sunday he has dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in the the violence-ravaged African nation.Almost a year ago after President Yusuf fired ex-Somali Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi who resigned after a long feud with the president, it does seem that the Somalis are back to squire one again. Just last week, Somalia's president dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in our violence-ravaged nation; and the following day, nominated new prime minister. With all these erratic leadership behaviors and other behaviors that preceded Mr. Yusuf (like Siyad Bare, Ali Nafto, and Abdiqasim etc). One must wonder and seek the root cause of all these unstable marriages between Somali president, parliament and prime ministers. The following paragraphs, I will try to make sense or at least explore some of the issues that could be attributed some of the rifts between Somali leaders.

Somalia's president said Sunday he has dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in the the violence-ravaged African nation.Somalia's president said Sunday he has dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in the the violence-ravaged African nation.Somalia's president said Sunday he has dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in the the violence-ravaged African nation.Somalia's president said Sunday he has dismissed his prime minister for failing to do his job, a move that could threaten peace efforts in the the violence-ravaged African nation.

Before and after the Italian colonialism, the Somali nation repeatedly failed to produce a strong leadership in each and every level of its government. Somalis have yet to experience a sincere leader that can rise up and lift its people from ground, like Gandhi, Washington, Dr. King and many others did for their people and nations. The Somali people have been unfortunate to have the opportunity to select their leaders, and no one ever gave them the chance to know the qualities that a good leader should have. Throughout the years, the tragedies that the Somali people have endured, no nation in the world have ever experienced; their problems are known in every corner of the globe. The causes of these problems are also well known in our modern world, which are simply problems associated with leadership. People ask all sorts of questions such as why there is not functioning government for 18 years? Why is there civil war? Who is the president of Somalia? Who can fire whom? Well, all of these questions are real questions that need real answers, and its answers lies between leadership and education.

Throughout the history and the biographies of the world leaders, one can not avoid, but notice that every leader in our history had some form of education, whether elected or selected, and before one becomes a leader one must prepared for it, whether thorough schooling or acquiring leadership skills. Before our prophet Muhammad (PUH) was selected to become a messenger of Allah and to carry out the message of all (the Quran), Allah prepared our prophet and thought him how read and write. The very first ayah in the Quran was called iqra, which simply means read. These indicate the importance of acquiring knowledge before one can act as a leader, if Allah decided to teach the prophet before he is allowed to lead the Muslim umah; what Somali people must do before choosing a leader? One must also be prepared before he allows himself to assume any leadership position. Apparently, Somali leaders fail this critical step, instead of educating or preparing themselves, they devote most of their time building tribal/clan loyalties; which in turn produces leadership conflicts that we are witnessing today. It was Mr. Yusuf who chose Gedi and Nur Adde among other qualified Somalis. Why is the president having difficulty finding right or qualified companion? I would suggest that his tribal loyalties and his own decision making skill’s deficit.

It was couple centuries ago, when the 55 delegates who attended the United States Constitutional Convention were a distinguished body of men who represented a cross section of 18th-century American leadership. They were called the Founding Fathers of the USA, all of these men were not from same tribes or clans, but they all had strong educational background, thirty-five of the Founding Fathers were lawyers or had benefited from legal training, and some had also become judges. They all had a true education and knowledge (an education or a knowledge which freed the minds out of tribalism). Again, this shows how important it is that leaders must posses some form of true education, before or if that leadership is intended to succeed. Specially, very critical stage of forming leadership and constitution for a fertile and fragile nation like Somalia. Obviously, Mr. Yusuf fails to possess this true real education. He is still trapped by the ignorance of tribal loyalties, personal hatred, dishonesties and poor judgments.

I think it is a time that the Somali people to think something different. The Somali public deserve better leadership same as the rest of the world, a well-educated and honest leader who puts his/her individual and tribal interest behind the interest of the nation. Not like dictator, illiterate, militarily oriented, tribally minded or/and uneducated leader like those who created and put the Somali people the continuous suffering and the anarchy. Somalis need a real chance of having knowledgeable leader and parliamentarian; it is unfortunate to see that the Somali public to be represented by a bunch hypocrites with no college education, a bunch that can not knowledgably and civilly hold productive discussions.

Nowhere in the world, there is a selected ex-commerce minister that does not know the meaning of trade, balance sheet, fiscal & monetary polices, and there is no speaker of parliament who has no legal training or background. It is a great tragic that the Somali public and the world leaders are relying on such leaders to build and lead a nation. Such individuals, who could not afford to develop or improve their own brains, could not be expected to lift the Somali nation from the current situation. The importance of education in leadership should not be ignored and before all of these individuals should be elected, Somali public must question leader’s qualifications and their abilities to carry leadership duties, not their tribal affiliations. Remember this quote “Good leaders develop through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience”.

Women's Human Rights and the Hope of Hillary Clinton

Women's Human Rights and the Hope of Hillary Clinton
Read More: Barack Obama Hillary Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Hillary Clinton Secretary Of State, Human Rights, International Relations, Reproductive Health, Reproductive Rights, Universal Declaration Of Human Rights, Home News
Millions of women heaved a collective sigh of relief with the election of Barack Obama, looking forward to an end to the Bush administration's relentless assault on women's reproductive health and rights.

Now, as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we've been given more reason to rejoice. The President-elect's nominee for Secretary of State is one of the leading figures in efforts to improve the education, safety, economic opportunity and health care for women around the world.

It's been a very long and destructive eight years. While elsewhere in the world there has been a growing recognition of reproductive rights as human rights, the United States has moved backwards. In the past two years, the United States Supreme Court--with two new Bush justices--issued Gonzales v. Carhart , a decision that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg called "alarming," which she said represented antiquated and rejected notions of a woman's place in the family. At the same time, Colombia's highest court ruled that the country's blanket ban of abortion violated women's basic human rights. The Constitutional Court found that protecting reproductive rights is a "direct path to promoting the dignity of all human beings and a step forward in humanity's advancement towards social justice."

Internationally, the Bush administration has undermined decades of global improvements in women's reproductive health and in the recognition of reproductive rights as basic human rights. At the United Nations, in meetings to advance consensus documents supporting reproductive rights and health that were agreed to by the U.S. in the 1990s, U.S. representatives obstructed progress by pushing (ultimately unsuccessful) anti-abortion and abstinence-only agendas. U.S. foreign assistance policy has reflected extreme ideological positions that have ignored the dire need to make family planning more available in developing nations (at least 100 million couples worldwide have an unmet need for family planning), including the denial of $240 million to the United Nations Population Fund and the re-imposition of the Global Gag Rule that bans U.S.-funded family planning groups based overseas from using their own, non-U.S. funds to provide any abortion-related services.

Make no mistake, the way forward needs to go beyond undoing the policies of the previous administration. The Obama administration must work toward a nation and world in which all women are free to decide whether and when to have children, have access to quality reproductive health care, can exercise their choices without coercion or discrimination, and can participate with full dignity as equal members of society. In Hillary Clinton's nomination, President-elect Obama has taken the first step by showing our nation will be represented around the world by a champion of women's human rights.

As first lady and as senator, Senator Clinton has visited more than 80 nations to push for the advancement of women, telling leaders that a country's future is dependent upon the equal standing of its women. She has spoken out strongly against sex trafficking, advocated for comprehensive sex education and supported expanding access to family planning services. And in her celebrated and oft-quoted speech on women's rights at the 1995 United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, she declared it is "no longer acceptable to discuss women's rights as separate from human rights."

Equally important, she understands that the mere recognition of rights is not enough: they must improve the lives and health of women. Senator Clinton has argued that women's ability to own their own choices about their reproductive health and rights has a direct impact on their economic, emotional and physical well-being. With her, the U.S. will have a secretary of state who understands that women's quality of life has an undeniable effect on our destiny as a nation and the future of the world.

On this auspicious anniversary, the United States needs to recommit to the human rights called for by the Declaration and the U.S. Constitution, one of the world's earliest human rights documents. Under the leadership of President-elect Obama and with Senator Clinton as his Secretary of State, the United States has the opportunity to again take the world stage as a leader in promoting women's reproductive health, equality and human rights. With Senator Clinton heading the State Department, we are significantly closer to reproductive rights as an integral part of the department's human rights work. And when our policies accept reproductive rights as fundamental human rights, you can bet I'll be popping the champagne.

Serbian Xenophobia, Racism and Chauvinism Impose Secession and Independence for Voivodina

Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis November 14, 2008 In five previous articles, entitled "Albanians and Muslims Still Targeted by Serbs in Occupied Voivodina and Sanjak – HRW Report" (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/albanians-and-muslims-still-targeted-by-serbs-in-occupied-voivodina-and-sanjak-hrw-report.html), "Tyrannized Voivodina and Sanjak Ready to Secede from Dangerous, Racist state Serbia" (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/tyrannized-voivodina-and-sanjak-ready-to-secede-from-dangerous-racist-state-serbia.html), "Hateful Acts of Racism Performed by Serbs in Voivodina, Revealed in Devastating HRW Report" (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/hateful-acts-of-racism-performed-by-serbs-in-voivodina-revealed-in-devastating-hrw-report.html), "HRW Report Demonstrates Need for Voivodina and Sanjak to Secede from Totalitarian Serbia" (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/hrw-report-demonstrates-need-for-voivodina-and-sanjak-to-secede-from-totalitarian-serbia.html) and "c, Sanjak" (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/serbian-xenophobia-racism-and-chauvinism-impose-secession-and-independence-for-voivodina-sanjak.html), I focused on Voivodina and Sanjak which are not proper Serbian territories but have been peremptorily given to Serbia because of French pro-Serbian favoritism back in the 1910s and 1920s.
After many decades of tyranny which took various shapes, the Slovenes, the Croatians, the Bosnians, the Macedonians, the Montenegrins and the Kosovars achieved their national goal of independence and freedom. Unfortunately, the Voivodinians and the Sanjakis still live under Serbian racism and terrorism.

Due to mails from several readers asking about the terminology employed, I want to specify here that the two aforementioned terms do not indicate nations or ethno-religious groups but merely the inhabitants of Voivodina and Sanjak, who in their outright majority passionately desire the removal of the illegal Serbian settlers and the subsequent secession – liberation of their homelands from Serbia, the dictatorial realm of belligerent, rancorous and merciless administrations.
In fact, the pathetic Serbian nationalism, which has permanently been harbored there, is currently rising dangerously again. This is what a devastating HRW Report reveals about the unrepentant Serbia, a medieval and rancorous realm of excruciating tyranny, merciless murder and unfathomable racism that the perfidious French statesmen and diplomats want to help adhere to the EU.

o better illustrate the tragic events that signal further secessions from the Balkan Hell ´Serbia´, I republish the entire HRW Report "Hostages of Tension - Intimidation and Harassment of Ethnic Albanians in Serbia after Kosovo´s Declaration of Independence". Following the publication of the Report´s earlier parts that shed light on the background of the new explosive crisis, the attacks in February 2008 in and outside Vojvodina, and the official stance – response to the events, in the present article, I republish the leading NGO Human Rights Watch´s Recommendations. In forthcoming articles, I will complete and further comment.
Hostages of Tension - Intimidation and Harassment of Ethnic Albanians in Serbia after Kosovo´s Declaration of Independence

Expanded Recommendations
http://www.hrw.org/reports/2008/serbia1108/9.htm#_Toc212362288

To the Government of Serbia
Publicly and unequivocally condemn all instances of inter-ethnic violence and other offenses against minorities;
Investigate and, where necessary, take appropriate disciplinary or legal action against officials suspected of inciting, encouraging, or supporting ethnically motivated violence against people or property;
Fulfill the publicly-given promise and legal obligation to compensate victims of violence whose property was destroyed on the occasion of public protests after Kosovo´s declaration of independence;
Implement programs designed to assist victims of violence, including damage to property. Assistance should include help accessing legal remedies, including financial compensation where eligible and civil claims for damages against perpetrators if they are identified;
Conduct outreach in the areas affected by violence to inform the victims how to purse compensation for damage;

Expand the compensation law to allow for compensation in cases of criminal damage not arising from public protests;
Consider legislation that would allow for the imposition of greater sentences for ethnically aggravated forms of offenses against the person, property, public order, and similar offenses (hate crimes). The ethnically aggravated form of an offense would apply where there is evidence of either a) clear ethnic motivation on the part of the perpetrator in the commission of the offense or b) the demonstration of hostility during the commission of the offense is based on, among other grounds, the victim´s membership (or presumed membership) of an ethnic, religious, or racial group.

To Police in Serbia
Direct officers to take all appropriate preventive and protective measures to protect individuals belonging to minority communities and their property and businesses from attack especially when political events indicate that they may be at heightened risk;
Implement procedures designed to minimize opportunities for attacks once the risk is apparent, including timing shift rotations such that properties under protection are not left unprotected during the shift change;
Thoroughly investigate all violent acts directed against minorities, including destruction of property, in order to identify the perpetrators and where the evidence warrants promptly pass it to district prosecutors to bring criminal charges against them;
Renew investigations into the 2008 acts of violence against minority-owned businesses which took place after Kosovo´s declaration of independence;

Communicate with victims and affected local communities as investigations progress in order to assure the victims of their safety and deter further attacks;
Ensure greater ethnic diversity among the police force to facilitate communication and contacts with all communities in Serbia;
Closely collaborate with investigative judges, misdemeanor judges and prosecutors to ensure adequate follow up on misdemeanors and criminal cases involving minority victims.
To Investigative Judges, Misdemeanor Judges and Prosecutors
Closely collaborate with each other and with the police to ensure that misdemeanors and criminal cases involving minorities are adequately followed up on and the perpetrators identified and prosecuted.

To the European Union
Include the Serbian government´s success in preventing ethnically motivated crimes and, where warranted, prosecuting individuals responsible for them as a benchmark in the Stabilization and Association ratification process and other European Union accession processes;
Support police reform in Serbia to better enable timely and coordinated responses to violence and public disorder, including by facilitating closer cooperation and the exchange of best practices between EU national police forces and the Serbian police.
Support efforts to ensure that the police force adequately reflects Serbia´s ethnic diversity;
Continue to affirm that a multi-ethnic Serbia in which the rights of all inhabitants are respected is one of the principle objectives of the international community.

To the Council of Europe
The Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention on the Protection of National Minorities should visit the areas of the anti-minority violence during its November 3-7, 2008 visit to Serbia. The Advisory Committee should consider issuing a speedy report and recommendations specifically on the investigation into the violence;
Continue pressing the government of Serbia to uphold the standards in the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.
To the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
The OSCE Mission in Serbia should include monitoring trials of ethnically motivated crimes in its portfolio, and publish its findings.
Monitor incidents of violence against minorities and publish reports documenting them;
Continue visits to Serbia by the OSCE High Commissioner of National Minorities to assess progress in protecting national minorities.

To the United Nations
The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the Human Rights Committee, and the Special Rapporteur on racism should use the next opportunity provided by their respective mandates to take up the issue of ethnically motivated violence in Serbia and make recommendations for steps the authorities should take to effectively address the problem.
The Human Rights Council should use the opportunity of the forthcoming Universal Periodic Review of Serbia to question the authorities about the problem of ethnically motivated violence and their response to it, and make recommendations for steps taken to effectively address it.
Note
Picture: After Montenegro and Kosova, Voivodina and Sanjak will secede. Sanjak will be soon free (from both Serbia and Montenegro) and united, as the overwhelming majority of its population have always passionately desired.

As the situation in starving Ogaden deteriorates, extraordinary measures have to be taken, if we take into consideration that the UN and the US proved

Given the tyrannical structure of the Abyssinian state (fallaciously re-baptized ´Ethiopia´), the Zenawi administration, possessed by racist hysteria, anti-Islamic madness and tribal hatred against the Islamic Nation of Ogaden, repeatedly withheld aid sent for Ogaden, diverting it to criminal death squads that spread terror in Ogaden and other parts of the inhumanly tyrannized country.

Only 18% of the country´s population (namely the Amhara and Tigray Monophysitic Abyssinians) staff and therefore control the Abyssinian (´Ethiopian´) "diplomatic" body, using their position´s privileges to continue and complete the ongoing Genocide of Ogaden). Misinforming the international community through a network of unrepresentative embassies, the tribal pseudo-diplomats of Amhara and Tigray origin are common liars and monstrous accomplices of Africa´s most recent Genocide. The world community cannot afford to allow them perpetrate against the Ogadenis what Hitler´s Nazi Germany carried out against the European Jewry.

It is therefore a matter of the utmost urgency for the UN, the US and the European aid agencies, as well as the world´s leading Humanitarian agencies and NGOs, to contact the political leadership of the Ogadeni Nation, the Ogaden National Liberation Front, and cooperate with them in the creation of an International Humanitarian Corridor in Ogaden. In case the criminal racist state of ´Ethiopia´ does not immediately accept this measure, which is the only to prevent a humanitarian disaster of unprecedented scale, the way will be open for an immediate UN Security Council resolution and deployment of UN peacekeeping troops throughout Ogaden. I republish here the recent ONLF press release which calls for an International Humanitarian Corridor in Ogaden, and an insightful feature on the US aid which is under preparation, published in the portal Afrik.

The Americans have got a great and brilliant tradition in sending humanitarian aid; on the other hand, they are proverbial in terms of inefficiency when it comes to conflicts they never had the slightest idea about, Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia being some of the examples. In this case, if American aid reaches the racist Amhara and Tigray death squads of Meles Zenawi, the cannibal friend of Jendayi Frazer, the US aid services will stand accused for contribution to Genocide. When it comes to Ogaden, the only interlocutor for the UN, America and Europe is the ONLF. ONLF Call For International Humanitarian Corridor In Ogaden http://onlf.org/onlfpress15sep2008.htmlPress Release15 September 2008
The scope and severity of the famine in Ogaden, coupled with soaring food prices mainly as a result of the economic blockade of Ogaden by the Ethiopian regime, has brought the Ogaden to the brink of a man made humanitarian catastrophe. The Ethiopian regime continues to severely restrict humanitarian assistance to our people while using what little food aid that gets through as a political weapon aimed at collectively our villagers and nomads. The United Nations has been largely unsuccessful at distributing humanitarian assistance to the Ogaden specifically due to the blatant and frequent obstacles presented by the Ethiopian regime. Independent aid agencies have been largely banned from the region with no indications they will be allowed to return despite the worsening humanitarian situation.

It is due to this reality that the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) on behalf of the people of Ogaden calls upon the international community to realize an immediate emergency international humanitarian corridor in Ogaden. Such a corridor is not without precedent and is both appropriate and implementable in the Ogaden. A humanitarian corridor can be demilitarized if Ethiopian troops do not escort or interfere with humanitarian aid convoys. As we have stated on numerous occasions, the ONLF is prepared to do all that is necessary to facilitate the distribution of food aid in Ogaden including working with the international community to realize a functioning emergency international humanitarian corridor.

Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) US comes to Ethiopia´s rescue http://en.afrik.com/article14522.htmlDrought-affected communities in Ethiopia will receive an additional food aid package of nearly US$ 60 million from the US through the UN World Food Programme, it was officially announced Thursday.The US Agency for International Development (USAID) said the relief contribution provided by America consisted of nearly 72,000 metric tonnes (MT) of food, including approximately 33,000 MT of sorghum, 33,000 MT of wheat, 5,000 MT of corn soya blend (CSB), and 1,000 MT of vegetable oil.

UN and non-governmental relief agencies operating in Ethiopia reported that increasing food insecurity and malnutrition in some areas of the country were posing a serious challenge to humanitarian response activities.For instance, reports said the overall humanitarian situation in the south-eastern Somali Region had worsened due to progressive shortages of water and food.The US is the largest donor of emergency food assistance to Ethiopia.Since October 2007, the American people have provided more than 804,000 MT of food assistance to the disaster-prone East African country.

Given through USAID´s Office of Food for Peace, the assistance was valued at nearly US$ 627 million and it included more than US$ 324 million in emergency food commodities and more than US$ 302 million in contributions to the Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP), a multi-donor effort led by the Ethiopian government to a ddress chronic food insecurity.Meanwhile, Assistant Administrator of the USAID´s Bureau of Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance, Michael Hess, and Jeff Borns, Director of the Office of Food for Peace, are currently visiting Ethiopia to meet with government officials and representatives from humanitarian organisations and analyse the effectiveness of the American humanitarian assistance in affected areas.

During their 15-19 September 2008 tour, Hess and Borns have travelled to Somali and Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples regions of Ethiopia to observe USA ID-funded programmes and meet with regional officials and USAID partners.According to the Somali Regional Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Bureau, food and water shortages have reached critical levels in many areas of the region leading to increased rural-urban migration.Affected areas include Korahe, Warder, Degehabur, Gode, Fik and parts of Liben and Afder zones.Also, WFP reported that the region remained of particular concern due to erratic dispatches of food assistance.

Constant increase in food prices has compounded food insecurity while livestock mortality is escalating due to extreme shortages of water and pasture and drought-related diseases.With concern growing about the likely exacerbation of drought conditions as the July-September rains in Jijiga and Shinile zones are nearing a failure, regional officials said priority responses should be immediate interventions in food, in come and livelihood protection support, animal feeds and water supply.According to WFP, increasing needs of food assistance in Ethiopia remained the leading factor challenging timely and adequate response activities.The agency currently faces a resource shortfall totaling 145,690 MT of relief food valued at US$ 118.9 million.

Print Article Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis October 02, 2008 Following the social and political decomposition of the erratic pseudo-state of Somaliland, formed under Abyssinian ('Ethiopian') guidance and colonialist anti-Somali involvement, the illegitimate local puppet of the Abyssinian tyrant Zenawi, 'president' Riyale, thought opportune to travel abroad in order to boost his image of shameful tribal thug, murderous tyrant, and ridiculous puppet of the Abyssinians.
What this silly and burlesque type of thug forgot is that Paris is not Addis Ababa (as Finfinnee, the Oromo capital, is named in the tyrannical realm of Abyssinia) where Riyale travels to posture as president when he is among those whom he serves as a shameful puppet. In fact, only the hotel receptionists were ready to meet this comical visitor whose budget was made entirely out of money stolen from the Northern Somalis who - tyrannized by Riyale's militias - passionately desire peace to prevail in the Somali South, and the Islamic Somali patriots to enter Hargeysa.
In my earlier article 'Somaliland - the Clowns of the Lost Recognition, and their End' (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/61550), I wrote the following:
"It was just a myth; that of a part of Somali territory being calm and ´still´ functioning as a state. The myth was enhanced by narratives about the peaceful image of Berbera, the illegal harbour of the permanently anti-Somali Abyssinians in … Somalia.
The myth sounded logical; many believed that some Somalis wished to keep their lives far from the Mogadishu troubles. It could be true.
The myth was enriched with reconfirmations, justifications and explanations based on historical events. Northwestern Somalia had indeed crossed difficult times during the Siyad Barre presidency in the 80s.
Then, the myth started being transformed into an anecdote. If peace is preserved in Hargeysa, during the Civil Strife in the Somali South, why does the precarious and unrecognized state of Somaliland demand international recognition? Why on earth can´t the Hargeysa authorities discuss with the other Somalis, why can´t they help set up an all-Somali conference where everything will be discussed and a compromise will be reached in order to let all cohabitate under a re-unified Somalia?
As questions started arising about the possible intentions of the Hargeysa administrators (do not call them ministers or president, if you please!), the Somaliland anecdote turned out to be the Hargeysa comedy. Treacherously elected gang members went on with declarations of divisiveness and discord. Because of having been mistreated by someone who is not alive and whose collaborators can be retraced today throughout Somalia, among all parts, territories and parties, the Hargeysa clowns ´decided´ that the prefab ´Somaliland´ should go alone, and embarked on an all-consuming, unrealistic, heart-breaking, quixotic, and definitely un-Somali effort to obtain an otherwise impossible recognition.
The so-called Hargeysa ministers became the Clowns of the Lost Recognition, and every foreign visitor who happened to belong to an elected or unelected government was portrayed as herald of Somaliland´s recognition. But the recognition never came! Even worse, those who promised help did not deliver, and this happened despite the facilities offered to them.
We talk of course about the traditional, historical, and vicious enemies of Somalia, the Abyssinians; they promised help, if offered facilities at the Berbera harbour. What would become of Abyssinia, fallaciously re-baptized Ethiopia, if Somaliland closed it borders or asked the same high customs duties as those demanded at the Djibouti harbour? Yet, the Abyssinian allies of the Hargeysa ignorant, inexperienced and panicked rulers have a local liaison office at Hargeysa that they don´t dare promote to the level of consulate or embassy, as it would signify direct recognition of Somaliland. Why? The reason is simple; if they do so, they may eventually influence other countries in doing so. This does not correspond to the real interests of the Neo-Nazi Abyssinian gangsters around the Tigray tyrant Meles Zenawi; if this happened, they would lose all the leverage they have been exercising over Hargeysa. The Hargeysa clowns are therefore constrained to play in a tragedy".
The tragedy of Riyale, besotted pilgrim in an indifferent capital where he counts less than the local cockroaches, was plainly revealed in an article written by a Northern Somali. To therefore shed more light on the issue, I republish the insightful feature from the Somali patriotic blog gargaar.blogspot.com that I strongly recommend to your attention.

(also published in: http://www.somalilandcenter.com/content/view/1229/32/)
Hargeisa (Observer): Without much fanfare or explanation President Riyale departed for Europe last week. His first stop Paris. But even his envoy to France, Mohamoud Salah Nur, was not aware of his plans. Sources close to the presidency say that Mr. Nur was told of the trip just 2 nights before departure. He could not go with the President because his visa had expired, but reports indicate that he was able to join the delegation for some of his end of visit meetings after French Embassy in Djibouti expedited his travel. The President´s Foreign Minister, had also been scheduled to go to London and apparently was left out of this important trip.
In the meantime, the two top leaders of the House of Representatives have been on a never ending overseas junket. We do not know at whose expenses, but we certainly know they were not doing the job they are being paid to do. Just this month, Chairman Abdirahman Mohamed Irro and Deputy-Chairman Sheikh Abdilasis Samale first traveled to Nairobi, came back for just two days, only to embark on a European tour of their own. By some accounts, they may have spent more time on these trips then at the House of Representatives. The two parliamentarians almost always send back press reports of their meetings with the international diplomatic corps as well as senior government officials in the countries they visit. But they were not elected for that job.

They were elected to lead the legislature and the legislature is clearly floundering. No sessions of consequences have been held at the Parliament for more than a year now. Moreover, on these foreign trips, the Observer was told by reliable sources, that they never receive briefings or guidance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No one knows whether their discussions with foreign diplomats supports or diminishes our own government´s doctrine and strategy (if there are any). They are literally running a foreign policy of their own. At the time the President was meeting with French officials, Chairman Irro sent out press releases indicating Norway to be Somaliland´s best friend in Europe. Benign statement perhaps, but it is certain that nothing was coordinated between the two delegations.
On Wednesday, the President left France for Germany. French journalists contacted by the Observer say not much has happened in Paris. He was not officially received. No meeting with

President Sarkozy, but only with Bruno Joubert, Elysee Palace´s Africa Adviser. There is no Foccart anymore at the Elysee and in any case, the Africa adviser usually concerns himself with former French colonies. At the Quai d´Orsay, the President could not secure a meeting with Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, who does know something about Somaliland´s struggle nor with Deputy Foreign Minister who certainly knows a lot about Africa. The Presidents team could only manage a meeting with Mr. Jean de Gliniasty, the Director for Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands at the Ministry. All told, the same level of meetings other Somaliland dignitaries already had with French authorities.

The President did not even bother to meet with the energetic Somaliland community in France. No side trips to Lyons, the hub of the Somaliland Community in France, which is just a one-hour ride on the very comfortable TGV.

the Hell of Tyrant Riyale, the world community's most isolated pariah.

As the eyes of the global community turn to historical places of the Somali coast that were unduly and undeservedly forgotten by the prefabricated Western mass media, the phenomenon of piracy – which is at the basis of the fresh Western interest – tends to expand to the northern confines of Somalia that constitute the Horn of Africa's most chaotic realm.

The reason is simple; where despair invades the hearts and desolation prevails in the minds of undeservedly deprived people, piracy becomes an attractive alternative for anyone who would thus highlight his existence to the eyes of a heartless and insensitive world community that permitted themselves to spend 17 years without a proper concern for the injustices caused to Somalia. The effort can in addition bring some money to the performers, and this is definitely good.

Why not?
The disreputable trash of appointed and unrepresentative Somali prime minister Nur Adde, who turned over to the Abyssinian evil gangster and pseudo-general Gabre money entrusted to the 'government' of Somalia in form of aid and assistance, dared sell his own country in this most disreputable way. Only he will make money then?
Americans and Europeans failed to understand thus far that the deeds of the trashy pseudo-Somali prime minister are equivalent to De Gaulle turning American funds to German generals stationing in WW II occupied France.
The hope exists that through many similar acts and greatly unpleasant surprises for the Western countries, a solution of the problems of Somalia will be imposed, involving the
the withdrawal of the Abyssinian death squads and criminals who impersonate a pseudo-national army,
the elimination of the unrepresentative TFG regime,
the collapse and dissolution of the separatist puppet regimes of Garowe and Hargeysa (Puntland and Somaliland),
the imposition of an Islamic Republic of Somalia where many parties will shape a new national administration,
the complete punishment of all warlords,
the liberation of Ogaden,
the secession of the Somali province of Kenya, and
the dissolution of Djibouti with the merge of part of its territory (inhabited by Issas) with Somalia.

So, one must expect the generalization of the phenomenon because the reasons that triggered it are present; until Jendayi Frazer is removed from her position and impeached for tolerating a genocide in Ogaden, all the Somalis of the coast will find it great to become pirates.
If in the process they are killed, they will be as great heroes as the European anti-Nazi WW II fighters and partisans.

The diffusion of the passion for piracy as last tool for fair treatment for Somalia and for replacement of the monstrous authorities of the fake state of Somaliland with UN peace keeping soldiers is attested in the recent news from the breakaway lawless pseudo-state.
Northern Somalis, who passionately want to turn 'president' Riyale's tyranny to mere ashes and are determined to eliminate the presence of Amhara and Tigray Abyssinian devils from the northern parts of Somalia, have been arrested for plotting pirate attacks.
You arrest these guys, but the others will be successful; and the world community will understand that Riyale's thugs have to be guillotined if order and justice, rule and humanitarian concern are to prevail in Northern Somalia.

The event shows how deeply hated the illegal regime of Somaliland is, and to what extent the paranoid policies of Jendayi Frazer damaged the US interests in the Horn of Africa region.
I republish an insightful that sheds lights on the event, and at the same time, sounds like the funerals of the illegal pseudo-state of Riyale.
I then add an informative feature about the Harardhere case of piracy of an Ukrainian ship which seems to be the most impressive endeavour of the Somali pirates – thus far!
What comes next will certainly be even more astounding, and even more detrimental for the interests of all those who remained indifferent to the Drama of Somalia or – even worse – contributed to its materialization.
Berbera Court Sentences 5 Men to 15 years for Plotting Pirate Attacks

http://www.waaheen.com/index.php?action=view&id=1029&module=newsmodule&src=%40random48953494e4350
Berbera (Observer) - On 9 September, the Berbera regional court sentenced 5 men 15 years of imprisonment each for plotting sea piracy attacks. The Presiding Judge, Osman Dahir said that the me were caught red handed and that the prosecutors produced clear evidence that these 5 men and two others who were also sentenced in absentia were plotting attacks on ships in the Gulf of Aden.
Somaliland police arrested the men in Berbera. Police sources told Waaheen media that the men were hatching their scheme to launch pirate attacks using a small fishing boat. They also said that they confiscated weapons and other paraphernalia at the House a house were the arrests took place.
Sea piracy is becoming common place in the Gulf of Aden, but Somaliland ports have been fully free from piracy. No attacks are known to have been launched from Somaliland territory. Almost all the piracy that has taken near Somaliland / Somalia waters occur in nearby Puntland, which has no become notorious for pirate attacks. More than 11 ships are now held in Puntland.
Reports indicate that the men in Berbera, apparently all fishermen, were lured by reports of lucrative ransom gains in Puntland, where sea pirates are said to earn more than $30,000 a year.

Mareeg (MM) One of the pirates whose name Sugule Ali said that if the warships encircled them attempt to rescue the ship that they would drop the ship underwater. The pirates holding the Ukrainian ship carrying military hardware off Somali coast.
"We are armed and they are as well so if they try to force us we will force the ship to go under the water" Ali said in a telephone interview while he was on the Ukrainian ship.
He added that US has made contact with them and informed to them that they were going to prevent the weapons to drop off from the ship but don´t want to rescue the ship.
He added that they were unafraid on any attack from the Russian and US ship stay around the ship they hold.

Somali pirates who seized a Ukrainian freighter carrying arms were on Sunday surrounded by several foreign warships off Harardhere, in central Somalia, a ranking Somali official and witnesses said."We are getting information that three warships are tracking the pirates and two of them are very close to the hijacked ship," the adviser to the presidency of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, Bile Mohamoud Qabowsade, said in Mogadishu by telephone."One of these ships is from the United States and the other two are from the European Union countries," he added.
The MV Faina was seized on Thursday with a crew of 21 as it neared the Kenyan port of Mombasa with a cargo of tanks, grenade launchers and ammunition for the Kenyan army. A tribal chief and local fishermen in Harardhere, around 410 kilometers (250 miles) north of Mogadishu, confirmed to Shabelle that they had seen the Ukrainian ship surrounded by at least two ships but were unable to say what nationality.

"The pirates are now surrounded near the village of Hinbarwaqo (between Harardhere and the port of Hobyo area) by western ships. They asked individuals in charge of the hijacking of the Ukranian ship to come aboard the navy ship for talks," the local clan elder, who asked not to be named, told Somali radio He said the navy ships were using loud speakers warning the pirates not to make any attempt to unload any of the cargo on board the ship. So far they had not responded to the invitation for talks.

A fisherman in Harardhere, Abdinasir Ahmed, told Shabelle he had seen two big ships in the vicinity of the hijacked ship, but had been unable to get any closer. Another elder, Ali Harun, said: "The pirates made contacts with friends on the ground and they are saying that at least two warships came close to them, I believe they have no chances of escaping with the shipment".
According to the Ukrainian defense ministry, the Faina is carrying 33 Soviet-type T-72 tanks as well as armaments being delivered by Kiev as part of an arms deal with Kenya. Seventeen Ukrainians are among the ship's 21-strong crew, which also includes three Russians and one Latvian.

The coastal waters off Somalia, which has not had an effective central government for more than 17 years and is plagued by insecurity, are considered to be among the most dangerous waterways for shipping in the world. Numerous UN-backed bids to restore stability in the nation of up to 10 million have failed.
Last year more than 25 ships were seized by pirates in Somali coastal waters despite US navy patrols, according to the International Maritime Bureau.

Prologue to Assimilation Policy

Prologue to Assimilation Policy?

By : THE MAAN-HADAL TEAM
September 23, 2008

The latest session of the 'parliament' in the nominal Somali regional state enacted statues that are of high interest. First, men and women are to share their assets equitably in the event of a divorce and no more reference is to be made to the rules in the Sharia court. Second, the 'irksome' five-star in the corner of the regional flag is soon to be a thing of the past. Third, Friday is to be a working day.

somali region flag

Somali regional flag

When announcing this 'landmark' laws, there was no disguise of the contempt for the feelings and beliefs of the people in the region. The vulgarities were so vile, the insensitivity so audacious! In fact, a laurel wreath was proffered onto the head of the man who announced it- a man merely used as an amplifier by the real rulers of the region who originated the laws. What temerity!

somali region

The Somali Region

The people of Somaligalbeed will need its most living God to get the better of this massive attempt on its heritage and identity, if this is what we, indeed, think it is.

We suspect this is a prologue to a new policy of assimilation the regime in Addis Ababa is trying to implement in the region, along with the already pursued divide-and-rule policies. The explanations given for the introduction of these laws are an indication of the phased strategies hatched up to delink the blood, history, and destiny ties the people of the region had and have with their kins in Somalia. This hitherto concealed agenda is beginning to obtrude blatantly; betraying the lies of the regime about valuing the customs and identities of nations and nationalities of the inhabitants of Ethiopia.

The regime thinks the removal of the star and the shade of blue background from the not-so-scared flag will hopefully mean, all of a sudden, the people of the region will be insensitive to the atrocities committed in Somalia. It hopes it will end the desire to be a Somali and will usher the dawn of a new transformation. We think, beyond publicity, it won't go far. Indeed, the stooges in Jigjiga all looked drunk with well contrived misapprehension when their dishonest leadership announced that this measure is a step forward in the birth of a new sense of 'Ethiopianism' in the heart of the people of the region. Rigging facts is not something new with the regime and their implants. But one may still ask if this gratuitous euphoria have any chance of being a reality?

somali woman

The people of the region are burdened by a severe famine to care about the imposition of unenforceable laws by a despairing regime

The Somali people are one in culture, religion and are intricately tied together by blood, bonded in marriages and share common livelihood sources. A mere elimination of a star will never stop the relation, but on the contrary, might act as a catalyst to solidify the affiliation and bolster self-awareness. It may wake up those who were asleep, oblivious to the danger lurking. Therefore, the euphoria is short-sighted. It will never impact on the social, political, cultural, psychological and economic attachment and interdependence among the Somali nation in the horn of Africa.

The people of the region are burdened by a severe famine to care about the imposition of unenforceable laws by a despairing regime. A regime that is busy expelling humanitarians and media people so that the cries of hungry children and the grief of abused mothers is not revealed to the world. Add this to the well founded reports by credible international human right organisations on the extra-judicial killings, arbitrary detentions and burning of villages committed by the Ethiopian army; and one would wonder if massive starvation is the right tool to arm-twist the Somaligalbeed people to sing in praise and long for the tri-coloured flag of Ethiopia.

somali region

A woman sits with her family in Denan, Somali Region, Ethiopia amid signs of a major drought. Denan was the epicentre of the region's last drought in 2000. Somali Region, Ethiopia

That Friday is going to be a working day is part of the phased attempt at the assimilation of the conquered natives. Perhaps, the decision on the rights of women and men is the most far-reaching. Apart from the questionable motives and the challenges around the operationalisation of the law, whether good or bad, the issue is, will it be accepted by the suspicious Somali's who see it as a dictation by the Christian highlanders? Even if one argues this particular decree was made for the welfare of the women and with good intentions, the method of delivery has sullied its value and reduced the chances for practical implementation. Not to mention the parochial and controversial nature of the law.

After the killings, arrests and mass starvation polices is this the latest weapon to subdue the 'unruly' Somali's? The designers of these laws must have dug deep and read all the lessons from French colonialism, for there is no better way of vanquishing a rebel than to force him/her to reject his/her self!

This new invention is particularly dangerous as it is targeted against the soul and sacred beliefs of the people. Whatever physical pain and loss is inflicted upon the Somaligalbeed people by the colonizers will heal with time. But, the shame and loss that follows the absconding of our values and core beliefs will alter who we are and will have an eternal sore in our soul and that of our progeny.

Therefore, the people of Somaligalbeed and their Somali brothers elsewhere must denounce and oppose this denial of religious rights and the blatant attack on their identity.

From our side, maybe, it is time we remind the strategists of this wicked policy, the living words of the eminent poet Jaamac Kadiye:

The sound I understand is a Somali
The genetics of me is a Somali
The way God created me is a Somali
He who I greet is a Somali
He who I share food with is a Somali
He who I befriend is a Somali
The perch I sleep on is a Somali
The land I walk on is a Somali
You find a Somali If you cut my skin
I object to the dissection and dalliance – (of those who wish to divide us)
Never will we be kept apart
I am a Somali, I am indivisible!!!

Discord among Somaliland´s Elite, as Outcry Rises against the Scandalous Huda Barkhad

By Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis August 23, 2008

What happens if the Vice President of a country has lost his own faith in the country that he has been appointed to serve?
The answer to this question is very simple; soon after, the country gets disintegrated.
This will soon happen to the calamitous pseudo-country ´Somaliland´ that betrayed all Northern Somalis´ rightful desire for peace, progress and national pride.

What else can be expected from a devious country that turned out to be the Somali History´s most shameful abnegation and the worst sample of servility toward the vicious enemies of Somalia, the Amhara and Tigray Monophysitic (Tewahedo: heretic) Abyssinians?
I republish here two reports that highlight the disintegration of social, political and moral order in the unrecognized Mafia-ruled pseudo-state of Somaliland. In the second, we remark the gloomy discourse of Ahmed Yusuf Yassin, Somaliland Vice President, a document that underscores the slim chances of the technical entity ´Somaliland´, a mere Abyssinian fabrication, to continue even for a few months.

In the first feature, we get an insightful about the criminal and inhuman activities of Somaliland pseudo-president Rayaale´s mistress, Huda Barkhad, Somalia´s most loathed woman. Her agents attempted to poison and kill Abshir Hassan Hashi, her ex-driver, whom she had closed in a jail, as she is scared to death that he will reveal rich and astounding details of her filthy character, criminal and fraudulent acts, and unmatched personal debauchery.
The world community should react against Hargeysa´s murderous, vicious, and scandalous mistress, and impose the immediate release of Abshir Hassan Hashi whose illegal imprisonment demonstrates perfectly well what sort of bestial gangsters run the Mafia state of Somaliland that nobody bothers to recognize.

The Driver of Huda Barkhad Whisked To Hospital In Critical Condition
http://www.somalilandtoday.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1391
London, 15 August 2008, (Somaliland Today)- The former head of the presidential transport and personal driver of the president´s wife, Abshir Hassan Hashi, who was languishing behind bars in Mandera central prison for the last three months, was rushed to Hargeisa General Hospital in critical condition last night.

Mr. Abshir who is a member of the KULMIYE central committee, the leading Somaliland opposition party, was arrested by Somaliland security forces three months ago. He was subsequently sent to Mandera central prison without being brought to trial before a court of law.
Mr. Abshir who remains in a special ward allocated for Somaliland Custodial Corps is chained to his bed by his feet and is guarded by three armed policemen.
A reporter from the Somali language daily, Geeska Afrika (Horn of Africa) who visited Mr. Abshir at his solitary confinement ward in Hospital has seen that the inmate was not in good physical health and psychological well being.
Mr. Abshir told the reporter that his health had rapidly deteriorated and argued that he was not brought to trial until now but nonetheless was sentenced to two year´s imprisonment by the so-called National Security Committee- an unconstitutional extra-judicial body that operates throughout the country.
" Last night around 12:00 o´clock, I vomited a thick and sticky blood, which splattered out and smeared all over my loincloth [sarong] and bed sheet. I reported the matter to the prison guard, who, in turn, informed his superior. The prison commander, having seen the seriousness of my condition, rushed me to Hargeisa General Hospital," said Abshir to the reporter. " I was brought over here [Hargeisa] this morning at 7.00am and as you can see, my body is swollen all over and I remain chained to my bed".
" I was never brought to trial to which I am rightfully entitled as a citizen. It was only very recently that the prison commander informed me that I was sentenced to two year´s imprisonment by the so-called National Security Committee even though no one had ever spoken to me about this. I have yet to see any papers relating to my imprisonment although I was held in prison for the last three months" added Abshir.

Somaliland Vice President paints bleak future for Somalia’s secessionist entity
By Osman Jama Adam
http://www.lasanod.com/details.php?num=805
In a candid conversation with Diasporas Somalilanders the Vice-President of the self-declared Somaliland Republic painted a bleak picture of the economic and political crisis facing Somalia’s secessionists’ enclave. He shared with the audience, apparently in confidence, that he is in complete disagreement with President Riyaale with how the government handled the controversial issue of exporting livestock from the enclave.
On August 3, 2008 I was invited, I believe by mistake, to participate in a Tele-Conference organized by Somaliland American Council http://www.somalilandamerican.com/index.html, a Washington-based Ad Hoc group dedicated to the lobbying for the recognition of Somaliland as a State independent from Somalia.

The subject of the conference was "Current Situation in Somaliland’ and the Keynote Speaker was Ahmed Yusuf Yassin, Somaliland Vice President.
The following are the highlights of the Vice President presentations to an audience he believed was solely made up of the core constituency of the "Somaliland" Project.
The Government does not have the capacity to control events on the ground in Somaliland. " If a lawless teenager (Jirri) burns the Quran in the centre of Hargeisa, no government can do anything to stop it let alone bring him to justice.", Mr Yassin stated. He added if the government intervenes the whole incident would be turned into a clan against clan issue.

On the controversy over giving exclusive rights to a Saudi national to export livestock from the country, the Vice President stated that he is not in agreement with President Riyaale to give monopoly to a foreign national to export our livestock. However, in order for a free market to take effect for the export of livestock from Berbera we are required to come up with 3 million dollar deposit as a guarantee that the live stock is free from Rift Valley disease. The government does not have that can kind of money neither the business community.
Responding to a pre-submitted question on the Somaliland Constitution and how it relates to the controversy surrounding the export of livestock, the Vice President said that the Constitution was written 10 ago in English by a Sudanese constitution expert. No one is able to translate it into Somali. Therefore, neither "the President or myself know what is in the Constitution." "We need you, guys in the Diasporas, to translate this import document."
In concluding his speech, the Vice President, who is in Burco, stated that the only good news I have for you is that we succeeded in our long campaign to capture Las Anod. The key element in this campaign was, in advance of our militia invasion of Sool in 2007, we quietly and clandestinely sent dozens of former convicts, trained by our Ethiopian allies, to infiltrate the Sool communities in Adhi Cadey and Yagori. They settled and married from the community while all along providing intelligence and recruiting local collaborators.

The Vice-President added that they will continue following the same strategy in completing the occupation of Sool. At one point the Vice-President was interrupted by the Tele-conference Moderator who opinioned that we learned this strategy from our Protectors, the British, and thank God it is working! Laga Baray-ba; Laga Badi !!
Also the Vice-President reminded time and again during his presentation that the Ethiopians are our friends and that you, meaning the Diasporas Somalilanders, not to listen to those who malign Ethiopia. He also praised and thanked international NGOs. He said without them Somaliland can not survive for a day. So every Somalilander overseas should try his best to bring one NGO.
As a staunch defender of Somali Unity in spite of our current tragedy, this is the first time I participated in a "Somaliland" meeting whether by telephone or in person. I was flabbergasted by the contrast between Ahmed Yassin’s honest briefing on "Somaliland" current situation and the deafening boasts and naked propaganda of Diasporas Somalilanders that their ’country’ is peaceful, booming, and it is destined to be an international tourist destination. For a country that can not afford to come up with a 3 million dollar deposit, what do you expect the condition of the average Somali in Hargeisa and Burco?

Another question that comes to mind isn’t the Vice-President a member of the Somaliland Government? During his presentation he time and again spoke in the plural ’We’. "We are against the Government handling the livestock issue." Does the ’We’ refer to a sub-constituency in Somaliland that Ahmed Yusuf Yassin is a member but not President Riyale?

The Vice-President should be commended for his candor. He is popularly known in Somaliland as "WayDhaqaaq’day!", meaning "Somaliland is on the Move". It is a popular phrase he uses when addressing the masses on public events. But based on his presentation on August 3, 2008, it seems Somaliland "May Dhaqaa’qin.". Somaliland is not moving. On the contrary Somaliland is "stagnant" in a cesspool of dysfunctional governance that is plagued by crude divisive clanism and corruption.
In conclusion I wish to thank Somalilander Americans for organizing an open forum for all those interested in the affair of "Somaliland". It was a learning and interesting experience.

Woyanne demoded Somali region Cadres Presidents for eighth time

Washington,Dc : Somali Region President Abdillahi Hassen has been demoded from his position by Woyane cadres. He was the eighth president that Somali Region of Ethiopia has known.

He reminded the Ethiopian Somali the old adage that has been narrated during the integration of Somali people into the Ethiopian territory. Nearly a century ago Lord Curzon anticipated the plight of Somali pastoralists in the Somali region in his poignant statement about frontiers being ‘the razor’s edge on which hang suspended the modern issues of war or peace, of death or life to nations. Somali has been better off during Haile Sillaise; however, Woyane minority who do not know how to handle the question of nations and nationalities have exacerbated. They are killing left and right the innocent people.
Leadership crisis is looming due to the interference of Meles and his gang in Somali Region . In the last eighteen years, Woynae minority is changing so-called presidents in Somali Region as their “Culotte” short pant of guerrilla time.

This week , to usher and precipitate the demotion of President Abdillahi Hassan and signaled to the upcoming so-called President to execute minority Tigayna’s killing machine , Woyane cadres have mounted an explosion in the capital of Somali Region and it claimed the lives of four innocent Somali people. President Abdillahi Hassan was the worst one when it came to jail Somalis, kill them and fire them without due process.
This theatrical event of changing guard in the Somali Region was a good lesson to all Somalis that woyane can not trust. As Somali saying goes, “caws jilal waa lama huraan.” at the end of the day, everybody has to go back to his own people. Woyane will go back to his desert, and Somali people will stay in its own land.

RAMADAN AFOOT IN SAUDI ARABIA

Arrangements afoot in Riyadh for Ramadan
RIYADH/JEDDAH: While Riyadh streets are being illuminated to give a festive atmosphere to welcome the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, extensive arrangements are being made in all the mosques to accommodate the additional number of worshippers throughout the month.

Sequel to a directive issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, mosques this year will be open for worshippers 24 hours a day.

According to the circular, imams of all the mosques in the Kingdom have been instructed to keep the places of worship tidy and to ensure adequate and uninterrupted supplies of power and water during the holy month to meet the requirements of the increased number of Muslims who go for Taraweeh, which follows the regular Isha prayers.

Midnight prayers (Qiyamul Lail) will be conducted from 1 a.m. from the 20th of Ramadan till the end of the holy month. Private establishments that have been contracted for mosque maintenance works have been asked to be on duty at nights during the holy month to guarantee continuous water and power supply in all the worshipping places.

Improvised partitions for ladies are being built in mosques that do not have separate prayer halls for women. Some of the mosques are busy replacing their old carpets with new ones and others are being color-washed to give them a fresh look during the holy month.

Yesterday, the Friday noon prayers focused on the significance of the holy month. Welcoming the advent of the holy month, imams appealed to the people to strictly adhere to the teachings of the Qur'an and the traditions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during this period.

Speaking to Arab News after the Friday prayers yesterday, Abdul Aziz, imam at a mosque in Riyadh's Sarafiya District said: "We expect larger congregations at Taraweeh prayers this year." He added that the holy month not only affords a good opportunity to Muslims to greet one another but also helps us perform good deeds that will be richly rewarded by the Almighty Allah.

Meanwhile, Deputy Labor Minister Abdul Wahid Al-Humaidi has said that public and private-sector employees are to have their hours reduced for Ramadan to six hours per day — and that any extra hours worked must be voluntary on the part of the employee and that employers must pay overtime for these voluntary extra hours worked.

Abdullah Marie ibn Mahfouz, member of the board of directors of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry said most employers shave off the work shifts by changing starting times from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. He also said employers are allowed to break up the six hours into two shifts, and make workers stay late in the evening if needed.
